Freedom Not In Your Possession

Freedom Not In Your Possession
Looking out over the battle field,
A place of Death and Human debris,
Lay the bodies of people who would not yield,
To the darker forces of tyranny,
Many have given their lives for freedom,
Seeing it a bargain at any price,
Stepping up to the battle by the legion,
Paying this due, and not thinking twice,
Once personal freedom has been tasted,
And people see what liberty has in store
Never again will they be relegated,
To the repressive lives they'd lived before,
This pursuit has left many dead,
Still it's a treasure readily sought,
So many tears may yet be shed,
The battle may need repeatedly fought,
If your free to read this rhyme,
May you never live under oppression,
I hope there'll never come a time,
When freedom's not in your possession.
