Our Beltane

by Rook
 Age Group: Adult

We communed with our Goddess one night before due; we spoke to Her with wine in hand, wind in our hair.
Water, my offering; when you looked at me with your sweet brown eyes, I poured when the wind began its whisper through the trees.
We didn't see anyone watching through the wet green leaves surrounding us, but still, we were left to wonder what would be.
Wearing a red band 'round my wrist, I reemerged into the "civilized" world in which people live, and I was saddened, because the crimson band I wore no longer could be white.
We still—you and I, my wondrous dear—made love as winking stars shone overhead outside.
Author's Notes: This is my first pagan festival poem.
The red band is a string I wore around my left wrist to represent the Virgin Huntress's part in the celebration, blood. Alas, as is implied, I am no virgin. So rather than pure white, I wore red, as I think was proper anyhow.
My fiance and I had gone to the park with wine and other ritual offerings (the night before May 1st since classes get in the way) . He had brought wine, but I don't put forward that that sort of libation is absolutely required, so I ended up with some tasty Aquafina Flavorsplash water (citrus kind *s*) .
It was a beautiful night.
And yes, I played with "w" in my poem... it was not an accident....
