Our Kids

Our Kids
We have three furry children that live in our house you see,
And they will go with us if we try to walk, all three.
Scooter is the largest one, my giant snuggle bug..
He sleeps and lays and lays and sleeps, we should’ve named him rug.
He follows us a-bitchin if the food bowl should get low.
And come home from a day at work and you’d think he didn’t know,
That we were ever coming home again, a meowin and a cryin.
And if something ever startles him, he’s a great fat cowardly lion.
The little female calico, a neurotic bundle we call Jo.
Rules the house with martial law, a seven pound mass of tooth and claw.
When she wants pettin, then she gets pettin, or else we pink monkeys get a scratch.
There is no height she cannot reach, no moving thing she cannot catch.
Twas she that brought the Faeries in, on a full moon night,
And leapt and danced and danced and leapt, until the morning light.
The little man who came to stay has six toes on his paws,
Has finally won the others over and of this we’re glad because.
We got tired of the hissin, and the fightin, and the wars.
He never had the sense to run and hide, he kept coming back for more.
More slaps, more bites, more body slams, more pounces from above.
They romp and play and play and romp and fill our house with love.
AND CAT HAIR!!
