Letter (For my Father)

I wrote a letter this summer,
four or five paragraphs
typed in Sylfaen 11 point font.
I wrote a letter in early August,
a familial correspondence
in neat black-white, well thought out rows.
I wrote a letter after talking to my mom,
a letter to the biological seed which bore me
of a drunkard, of a smoking—
I wrote a letter to a fool this year,
I wrote it to my father and it still has yet to sink
in, and I still can’t believe what I wrote, what I said
that was so damn well thought out of
my head—that I thought I realized what I said—
“I don’t love you, Dad.”
Author's Notes: Yeah. Me and my father don't get along. My parents divorced when I was four years old, and he's only harassed me since... until this past summer. The last line of me poem being the point of said letter.
