The Raven and the Deer

Age Group: Adult
A hard beak as black as coal
A soft stomach as white as snow
A shrilling shriek
A timid bleat
thus the Raven and the Doe.
Graceful footprints on the ground
Soaring up high round and round
A new born fawn
A sharpened claw
The last thing heard; a dismal sound.
A wise old Stag with antlers sharp
A young raven that's not too smart
A threat was made
the bird was slain
Both had hate yet both had heart.
Both have courage yet sometimes fear
Both have the earth that they hold dear
A well made nest
On grass they rest
Thus the Raven and the Deer.
Author's Notes: Dedicated to my teacher, friend, sister, and mother who are all one in the same. The woman who first showed me the Goddess; in her, in others, and myself.
A sort of ying and yang that's personal for her and I. A balance between the two of us.
