Seeking Truth

How long have I known
you, from a time before,
before I knew this world?
Have I seen,
seen this place before, that wood
I once lived beside?
How many,
many times have I said to myself
that I would not revive
old habits that have died hard?
Has there ever been,
been a time in space
in which I truly have known,
known myself?
Dejavu’s grasped my stomach
in pointed, vice-grip’d teeth and
I miss something
of this existence, a something
something that has eluded
my simple, naive senses.
Was it a web
I stumbled in, a cobweb from
an embittered, forgotten corner
of some past dream?
I return to a black-white
spin-circle center, geometric
anarchy, an old-movie widow waiting
for my sleepy, sleeping head.
Show me the way to move
with you in your sticky, sticky trap,
perhaps draw me
a skin-and-bones macabre map.
Coincidence is no coincidence
and I’m tired of the wanton clues
strewn along my breadcrumb path.
I tell you: You spin me
round, Fate, right round, like a
record, baby, Fate, right round,
round, round, round…
Author's Notes: Just something I wrote to express my frustration of stagnation. Major point of difference I'd like to make: Seeking is not the same as Finding. Something to think about. ;) Other than that, was experimenting a little with rhythm and rhyme, and a bit of song-snatching.
