Nervous Breakdown

Little squirrel, dead with bushy blue-fur tail
lying below the magnolia tree
Small rodent, I see you
in all your simplistic post-mortem luxury
Round dark pebble eyes
froze open, glassy against the falling rain
to warn me not to overwork myself this day
Author's Notes: I got to campus this morning and went towards my favorite Magnolia... only to stop short of stepping on a dead squirrel. I stood in the rain and stared at it for several minutes before going to class. If it remains where it is by the time I'm out of classes [today], I am going to bury it by the Magnolia it died under. *ponders* I think it was a clear-as-feck message from the Universe telling me to stop screwing with my MeTime.
