If with Mere Words-- My attempt at a Sonnet

Age Group: Adult
If with mere words your fears could wash away,
Then shower you always with books I would.
If some sweet song your face to me turn could,
I'd sing in front of all each burning day.
If you commanded me only to pray,
I'd pray to you, oh Goddess true and good!
Now bid that only silence be my food,
And I will starve, yet smile still all day.
Oh, if I could just hold you close to me,
And if I could just kiss your tender lips,
And if it would your love direct to me,
I'd crawl a thousand times across f'repits!
Sadly, right now all that, frail, I can do
Is pray, sing soft, and ever love you.
Author's Notes: Ok. This is about 6 years old but I just found it in my old school poems. I have more like this I'll add soon....
but hopefully with less half-rhyme. ;)
