Small Rat, white and pink
My new Familiar, I nearly hear you think
Perch on my shoulder, clean your whiskers white
All aflutter, I grin with such delight
A friend of mine’s joined me - Tito again? – for you were
So silent, sitting in the palm of my hand
Author's Notes: I write this because of my new Rat at home, an albino Rat I named Mervene (early form of Merlin, "Mer-vain") , Feels too Familiar. He almost immediately began to chitter in my ear when I set him on my shoulder, and he likes to crawl and hide under my hair. He loves to clean his little furry face while sitting on my shoulder. And he stuffs himself silly on the treats I have for him, now that he gets more than the feeder-rat pellets the pet store gives. He's just such a sweetie. And he wasn't skittish when I picked him out, nor has he done anything to make me wary of him. From the get-go! SO, I wonder if my little friend has returned in Spirit back to me.
