The Autumn Witch's Reverence of Samhain

Age Group: Adult
Fields of gold lay in waiting, stilled by the idle heat which followed the summer solstice
Stocks and stems dried and hallowed from basking in the sun which now begins to wane
The Earth is somber and reminiscent at the first indications of lingering darkness and night
Until a stirring occurs, gently rousing and nudging Nature with the promise of renewal
Cool air exudes crisp scents of damp soil and persimmons ripened by the season's first frost
Eastern winds seem to embody harmonic ethereal whispers and cadences of those passed
Vibrations of Change resonate from deep within the soil to the highest branch of every tree
Leaves display their brilliance in vibrant hues accentuated upon backdrops of overcast gray
The Final Harvest approaches evoking a contradicting synergy of woebegone and hope
Fires of bone and wood blaze like an orange beacon in the night against a pitch black sky
Entities, both deceased and living, make their journey through the threshold between worlds
Spirits feast on libations while prophecies of the year to come, gift themselves affluently
It is a time of transformation as the senescent lay to rest ensuring their legacy to be reborn
Nature's vow of resurrection hangs in the air thick as fog clinging to the river's surface and edge
In observation of all of that which the entire season encompasses the Autumn Witch revels
Serenity is found in the knowledge that life is most abounding and revitalized at the brink of death
