Mama Cried

by MysticIvy
 Age Group: Adult

An old lady sat in the cornor, alone in her rocking chair,
Four days & nights she had sat there, but she no longer cared.
She had asked her children over, but they had too much to do,
To come sit w/ the old folks, for it seemed to make them blue.
Well now they needn't bother, for she passed away that night,
With many thoughts running thru her head, of when things seemed alright.
Her eyes would light w/ happiness, when she'd see them comeing in,
She'd do her best to please them, & what memories they'd bring.
Of days when she felt better, & could run & play w/ them,
When her little ones were close to her, & how she had loved them.
Two weeks went by before I knocked upon her kitchen door,
There were no smiles, there were no laughs, my tears fell to the floor.
So now I've told my story, & I have a mom no more,
So children please don't be like me; go knock upon her door.
She's sitting there so lonesome, put laughter in her eyes,
Listen to her stories, don't come when she has died.
