A Mother's Reality

I watch them grow, take there first step, then watch them fall,
I want them to see just the good, but they have to learn it all.
They're not my creation, but people all there own,
With their own hearts, & minds & thoughts, I've seen that as they've grown.
To shield them from everything, I used to think was best,
But when they grow up, & mom's not there, how will they pass the test.
To show them such a perfect world, that's what I'd have to be,
But there is not a perfect mother here, it is just me.
Sometimes I do the wrong thing, say words I can't take back,
I do my best, make some mistakes, but then I get on track.
To teach them strength, self respect, & love that is so true,
I'll have to start by showing them, that I do love them too.
