Put My Little Shoes Away

Mother, dear, come bathe my forhead, I'm growing very weak.
Mother, dear, let one drop of water, fall upon my burning cheek.
Tell my loving little schoolmates, that I will no longer play.
Give them all my tops, but Mother, put my little shoes away.
I am going to leave you Mother, do remember what I say.
Won't you please, Mother? Put my little shoes away.
Santa Clause, he gave them to me, w/ a lots of other things,
And I think he brought an Angel, w/ a pair of Golden wings.
Mother, I will be an Angel, by perhaps another day!
So you will, then dearest Mother, put my shoes away?
When the baby will be larger, then they'll fit his little feet.
He'll look so nice & cunning, when he walks along the street.
Now I'm getting tired, Mother, put my little shoes away.

Author's Notes: In December my son was a preemie born 3 months early weighing 2lbs. While in the N.I.C.U. we seen a family where the brother gave a pair of little shoes to his new tiny brother. The parents came in one day & put the shoes on this tiny lil' baby, so his brother could see him wear his special gift. We watched this family for weeks, & when the lil' one didn't make it, his brother asked if he could keep the shoes, because they were all he had left of his brother. This poem came to me & it is written for him & his family & dedicated to all Goddess's lil' ones called home.
