Misgivings At Thanksgiving

Age Group: Adult
A certain fear a person feels,
Who holds the knife at festive meals.
It's time to face that annual crisis,
To cut a turkey into slices.
At first the breast meat falls so neatly,
A carvers unaware completly,
Of what a labyrinth he's in,
An inch or two beneath the skin.
He plots a course of circumvent,
Each tendon, bone & ligament.
But failures lurking in the wings,
And legs, & joints & tangled things.
How stubbornly that fowl releases,
The rest in stringy bits & pieces.
The answers simple, but depressing,
Skip the bird, & serve the dressing.

Author's Notes: LOL.... I laugh every year watching my dad fight carving the turkey.....even better for me because I am a Vegan....the dressing is where I am digging in. ; )
