War And Daddy's Little Girl's

by MysticIvy
 Age Group: Adult

The months have come & gone, while you were far away,
There have been many times I couldn't face another day.
I knew I had to be strong, our daughters needed me,
It hasn't been easy to be alone for us as three.
In six months they have grown so very very much,
They've had to depend on me, I've been there only crutch.
There's been alot of confusion in there little heads,
They miss all your hugs & kisses, when you tuck them in there beds.
Everyday they ask, "When is our daddy comeing home to stay?"
"And will he still love us, & take us to the park to play?"
I've watched the tears roll down there cheeks, when you didn't call,
And I would try to assure them once again, by the pictures on the wall.
Of how very much you love them, & how you miss them too,
That all the things you did together, you will soon still do.
In a childs mind it is hard to understand,
When your no longer there to love, & hold there little hand.
They think they have done something very very wrong,
And the feeling of abandonment is so very strong.
They think if they were only better girls, you would just stay,
They don't understand the Army was what took you far away.
So as I tuck them in at night, I whisper in there ears,
How your with them in there dreams, no need for any fears.
Your still right beside them, when they think of you,
Because where ever you are, you think of them too.
None of this has been easy, but no-one said it would,
I've tried to be strong & love them all I could.
So I wake to another day, to reassure there little hearts,
That we love them dearly & yes it hurts to be apart.
That they are your little girls, & they've done nothing wrong,
And that very soon you'll be home again, right where you belong.
Then things will be just like before you went so far away,
You'll hug & kiss them, & they'll want for you to play.
After work they'll run & greet you at the door, like thay always do,
They'll squeal & laugh, sit on your lap & fight over you.
Mommy can play with them, but it's still not the same,
Daddy wrestles better, thats always been your game.
Your shoes make more noise on there little feet,
And all your shirts hang better then mommies in size petite.
Hide & seeks more fun, cause daddy's hard to hide,
He tries to hide in places, that he's already tried.
Piggy backs are higher then mommies five foot two,
And daddy's egg sandwiches taste better then mine do.
There still daddy's girls, no matter how far you are,
And when at night they wish upon a star,
There wish is always the same each night, they look up in the sky,
"Daddy will come home to us soon." and then they start to cry.
They miss you so much honey, if only you just knew,
Of how very much we all love & miss only you.
Goddess has given us this as a little test,
Though it hasn't been easy, I have done my very best.
Now I have seen how hard it is to be both mom & dad,
There laughter, tears, there wishes & when there really mad.
So as the days we count go past,
The sweetest words I could hear is, "Daddy's home at last!"
