Yards Full of Laughter

Yards Full of Laughter

Remembering yards full of laughter and play-
When merriment lasted all day.
Picnic tables spread with food-
Loaded with favorites for all to choose.
Family sitting around the steps-
Where homemade ice cream was kept.
Swings flying high-
Cousins pushing others to the skies.
Brothers and sisters jumping ropes-
Aunts and uncles chuckling over jokes.
Grandparents telling stories from “Way back when-”
With sneaky children listening in.
Fahers and mothers boasting for all to hear-
How wonderful everyone came to be here.
Babies crawling about-
While toddlers pranced around and shouted.
Our eyes reflected our closeness-
As shown with each hug, each kiss.
And at the end of the day-
Tired and content, we’d head our own way.
