Our Earth Mother

Our Earth Mother

In the golden sun, under glorious blue skies-
I watched as nature came alive.
The flowers & the birds began to sing-
Why...it was such a magnificent thing!
And across the hollow, beyond the bend-
Where the woods & the creek have no end-
I heard the trees whispering to me-
Come, sit under my branches & enjoy my company.
Gladly, I partook of their offer-
And as I sat there, hour upon hour-
I witnessed the dew lift from the earth-
And the worms pop up, out of the dirt.
Butterflies flitting all about, showing such style & grace-
While rabbits were hopping around , as if in a race.
I watched as squirrels flew from tree to tree-
Who only pretended to ignore me.
And as I sat there watching time fly by-
I suddenly became grateful to have this life!
So many treasures left to discover-
From this place which is called our, "Earth Mother!"
