Facing My Mistakes

Hiding under the table eating Oreoes-
When in walks Moma carrying a load.
Slowly I'd put the chocolate cookies back-
Without their creams that I'd snatched.
Hoping she'd be too busy to notice-
Before I sneaked out unnoticed.
Fearing what might come-
For the naughty thing I'd done.
I'd eaten every one of those creams-
Without thinking I'd been bad or mean.
Yet, somehow, I felt guilty inside-
And so, with fear I wanted to hide.
Thinking I'd be there awhile, too-
I mean, what could she really do?
Yet still, I was afraid-
I was already feeling the mistakes made.
Not sure exactly how to face-
My Moma with such disgrace!
Humbly I crawled out, standing before her-
Bravely realizing, facing her, I'd matured.
