Cruising the Roads

Piling up into cars to cruise-
We were free with nothing to do.
Our time to enjoy our freedom's slowly-
These were the times when time was pokey.
All your friends from school-
Gathering into parking lots looking like fools!
The entire town knew our game-
Some were cool & others went insane!
But we didn't care, there were No Rules-
We were young, as the town's fools.
We were thought to be wasting time-
Never thinking quality lasted a lifetime.
Not looking into the future-
Wanting time to stand still was true.
We instinctively knew how to feed & nurture-
Our souls when we were blue.
To the river, we'd go & meet-
Hanging out with our music in Peace.
Cruising the roads from dusk until dawn-
Knowing our youth wouldn't last that long!
