I love imagining being a part of History-
Going back to when Thanksgiving came to be.
Being with my Indian and Pilgrim ancestors-
Gathering grains as we all came together.
Breaking bread as friends, instead of enemies-
Selecting foods that continue throughout History.
Taking that first bite of pumpkin pie-
Giving Thanks for surviving and being alive!
Tasting that first Ham and Turkey together-
Knowing we've survived together, throughout stormy weather.
Dressing in festive clothes to celebrate-
Newfound friendships and peace that was generated.
Little ones playing and teaching each other-
Accepting one another as sisters and brothers.
Learning to accept and respect each one's ways-
Thankful for finding a bond that would stay.
I love inviting my ancestor's spirits-
I adore the closeness of their visits!
Thanksgiving's perfect for speaking the words they spoke-
It's the season to share all they've devoted!
