Try To Understand.

by Sally Snow
 Age Group: Adult

You think you are talking to me but you are really talking to yourself. Try to unserstand. I believe the truth will help.
You looked right at her and said, "this is ***ing bullsh*t." But she don't give a ***.
We looked at each other and shook our heads slightly. You made insinuating remarks, but it was always a joke.
When they questioned her she talked earnestly of her innocence, apparently oblivious of the fact that she just contradicted statements she had previously given.
At first she denied even knowing, but she was getting progressively more tense. The shock of the ordeal showed on her face and she simply refused to believe.
We had a good reason to be nervous. With every day that passed there seemed to be a little more trouble.
I asked her why, if she was innocent, she didn't just cooperate and tell us the truth. She said she could't really do that.
You are very hesitant to talk about the way things are supposed to be. The memory of betrayal sneaks up and confronts you when you least expect it and it is almost impossible for you to really let go.
She had taken everything you had to give her, but that wasn't enough. That wasn't near enough.
I began to wonder a little but she said she did not want to talk about anything. She was feeling sorry for herself.
I can't remember everything, but she said a couple of things that were a little bit screwy, you know, that just didn't make sense. Then she slipped again when she tried to explain the situation. She's not telling us everything. She's holding back and she says she doesn't know why.
Have you ever had anything happen to you that was so frightening or so wonderful that you can close your eyes and picture it in your mind? Try to understand.
It can go away, but you can never get rid of it. It is in your blood system. It's something we have no control over and it feels like a dream from which we are just leaving.
I will be stubborn and stand up for what I believe in. I'm with you no matter what, dear friend. I believe the truth will help.
