Little girl

Age Group: Adult
She walks
where the path worn
stretches across
the daisy fields
where once as a child
she played her delights
the fancy smiles
that there ignites
The dreams of a little girl.
The remembrance burns
within the tales
that forgotten sails
here a memory and tear
Of yesterdays recaptured.
She sees the worn
the trembling knees
from the scruff of trees
that her delight
here in her flight
to climb by limb and form
the length and breadth
of trunk and bark
Now the trees they are but gone
The vision left empty, stark.
Sweet the innocent games that play
the childhood antics, that still inward lay
the journey but a step back into time
A moments wish, a time sublime.
She hears the voice of little friends
sees the faces from distant ends
all come together here
with fond assurance, held tight, Dear
Then fast as the second, the chime of time
brings her back, brings her back
To stroll the dust path back home
Feeling again totally alone.
