Though the Wide Ocean

Though the wide ocean do part us
And wild ways do tempt our hearts
Though the expanse of life will call us
And dash us upon her rocky shores
Though time and space deny us
And we are left without
Though hours tick before us
And we are in bed, hungry and cold
Though the bough shakes
And leaves do rustle;
At the coming of the wind
Though winter laughs at daytime
And thinks it shall ne’r come again
I have held you, long and longer still
I have seen, in night’s dreaming hour
I have loved you, with all my heart’s strength
I have found, lying in blue isles
Of my dreaming mind
Unquiet mind
Captured mind
That speaks so little of my heart
Author's Notes: This a poem about a peaceful breakup. It follows Tennyson's words from "In Memorium, " "It is better to have loved and lost, than never to have loved at all."
