Just A Spectator Here

by Elfin Moon Owl
 Age Group: Teen

I'm just a spectator here Watching Watching Watching, never talking
I'm just a spectator here You never notice me But I notice you Watching, never talking
They hurt you But never do they touch me I'm just a spectator here Watching, never talking
I can help you But you won't let me You don't need my help Or do you?
As I watch, you are being degraded You are falling apart But you ignore my offers of help After all, I'm just a spectator here
I may be naught but a spectator You may not want my help Your male pride will be your downfall Unless you let me heal you
Again, you refuse "I need no women's magic" I'm just a spectator here; watching, never talking I know you do
I turn and leave you lying there You are secretly sad to see me go You enjoy my displays of care for you Meanwhile, I am preparing
It is the waxing of the moon The best time For growth of health I am nearly ready
I gather my tools I cast the Circle Calling in the Watchtowers I begin the healing ritual
You see me there In my Circle A vision In your fevered sleep
You are repulsed "Satanist!" you think "Stop your evil work!" I am no satanist, and if I stop, you will die
You wish for me to stop You are deathly afraid of me But there is nothing you can do You're just a spectator here
I am filled with power I can work great changes If I so choose I choose to change you
Morning comes You are nearly unconsciouss I am kneeling beside you Sobbing, despite your contempt for me
The doctors come "There is no hope" " Wait" I plead "Goddess willing, he will live"
The doctors smile pityingly "We hope so" I fumble at the chain Around my neck
A pentacle emerges One doctor bows his head in reverance I hold it above your heart I say a prayer
Goddess help this man He is dear to me Though I am not dear to him Please, let him live
I draw a pentagram Above your face Brisingr, adurna, deloi, ruach I quickly evoke the elements
You fall into a coma We wait The doctor moves To unplug the life support
"Wait" I say Five more minutes A wave of energy sweeps through the room Only you and I can feel it
You flutter your eyelids All gasp Impossible. It is a miracle You are alive
I smile "Thank you Goddess" You realize slowly waht has happened "Thank you."
Now you respect me Me and my Craft You no longer say "Women's magic, bah!"
You are now unsure What to believe My Goddess saved you I asked her, and you are here and well
You try to forget this experience You return to your Church I smile and go about by buisness Relieved beyond measure
We pass on the street You don't acknowledge me I see you, you don't see me Once again, I'm just a spectator here
Author's Notes: This is another poem inspired by a song from In Tune With Spirit. I would agree that doing magick on someone without permission from them is generally bad, but I think for the situation depicted in the poem it is allowable. This poem has hidden meanings all throughout, like a lot of poetry. For instance, the "they" is evil magyks and such. This is not a true story. It is simply a way to express the power we witches have and the discrimination against us from primarily christian men. The tale of a woman who isn't seen by the one she loves is something I'm sure many of us can relate to, although I'm not entirely sure why she loves the man in the poem. Come up with some thoughts and email them to me!
