The Hunt

Oh the realms of Lady Artemis of the Moonlight!
And the dark forests under the trees!
The poetry of winding winds and deer's soft tread!
They sing to me!
Oh the silver bows of huntresses
And the white hide of the stag
And the stars watching silently
From their lofty perches high above!
The waterfalls into the pool
And the pool into the cave
Reflecting ice and water
Trickling trickling down
Owls hoot through the air
Rustling branches and leaves
The twang of string echoes
And the quarry falls
Given to the less
Then off running again
Running off into the night
Goes the Lady into the Night
I am following
Under the willow
The leaves whisper in my ears
The branches bend in the gusts of wind
She weeps
The waterfall to her feet
From grandmother willow stems the pool
Or be she maiden with lost lover?
The Hunt continues on
On into the Night!
I travel on into her dark shadows
Guided by the Moonlight
The faeries venture forth
Glistening glimmering motes
Nesting in my hair
I am here
Dawn comes swiftly
Lady Artemis retires to her bower
Namariel! I cry
And then go to school
Author's Notes: For those unfamiliar with elvish (of Tolkein origin) , and I confess that I know very little, "Namariel" means farewell.
Just to clarify, within this poem I use the words "she" and "her" in reference to three things: the willow tree, the Night, and Lady Artemis.
Go on the Hunt with my Lady and I! I hope you enjoy yourself.
