Dream Catcher- Repressor

Dream Catcher
Thought Minder
Child Snatcher
Witch Finder
They haunt our dreams
And make them nightmares
Forcing our identities
Down, down into the ground
Stealing our hope
Crushing it into a ball
And melting it away
To be a part of their own volcano
Ball by ball they melt it down
Adding it to their own forge-sources
Transforming our power
Into their own
Say what you think?
It is blown away
Scattered to the four corners of the world
Replaced with what is “proper”
The worms dig deeper
Ever deeper, into your brain
Taking root, the seeds of evil begin to grow
How to remove them without hurting yourself?
Our children are taken from us
At the earliest age
When they are no more than new-born kittens
Both blind and deaf to subtleties
They are reprogrammed
Like computers
To believe and to do as they are told
Where are their voices now?
The children now are against us
Raised by our nightmares, as they were
Again, they have taken our hope
What do we have left?
Those that are different
The ones who have poisoned
The worms and plants with pesticide
The ones who have taken cover from the avalanche
The ones who we are
The failed conversions
The witches who defy their rule
They hunt us down; afraid we will retake the children
They burn us
Burn us with words
And actions
And through the sands of time with fire
They cage us
Lock us in the dark
Alone
Even though we are there among the multitudes
The multitudes shun us
The ones who refuse to be beaten down
The ones who are not dogs
The ones whose humanity shines out like stars among the ashes
They shun us
But we will survive
We are the cockroaches
The hated, but the final survivors, in the end
Our voices cannot be drowned
Our dreams cannot be taken from us
Nor can our hopes and aspirations
For we are safe in our minds
Our minds that they cannot penetrate
And if they do, we will reciprocate
Purging ourselves of the lies
The rocks pressing down on us, the gravity of the Establishment
They are the Dream Catchers
They are the Thought Minders
They are the Child Snatchers
They are the Witch Finders
But we will not be repressed!
We will strive on!
We will burn with the fires of Life and Light!
We are the Brave New Voices who make their way in the world
Their own way
Not the path laid out at our feet
We wander the forests
While others follow the grids of roads
We are the tall weeds on the cliffs
Not the flowers in their beds
We break free of our chains!
Our chains of status quo
They are the Dream Catchers
The Thought Minders
The Child Snatchers
The Witch Finders
And we refuse.
Author's Notes: Here's a companion to Dream Catcher- Goddess. The two together symbolize the fact that two things can preform the same function (dream catching) yet still be radically different.
Plus I love both of them on their own just as poems.
