Prayer to Demeter

Age Group: Adult
I long to see lush wheat fields gone almost extinct
As the land is take by concrete and metal
child of the industrial age gone wild
I miss those days when as a community we farmed as one.
Oh Demeter, Great Goddess,
Help me reclaim that which has been stolen
almost gone but not forgotten
let green live again in a world over taken by black.
Help my garden to grown,
help me take back a piece,
of the way life should be,
covered in green.
I see myself as I look at my little saplings
lying sometime in the future under their loving shade
I hear them talk to me and we sing of how wonderful it will be
When they are tall and green.
Great Demeter, after my own heart,
how I see my crops as they sway in the breeze,
willing to give themselves to me
that I may keep living our dream of being green.
Lady Demeter help us achieve our dreams
I pray that you may help us grow strong
no matter what weather may come
I humbly ask please watch over us.
I choose to rebel against the metal,
that destroys leaf and petal
I choose to live our dreams of keeping
our little corner of the world beautiful and green.
