Poem of the Hopefull Romantic

by Baron

Age Group: Adult

The new day begins as any other
As if on queue by the mornings dawn
My heart aches because of another
Feels like a blank ending to a good love song

Many in one way or another I have loved
Many more I am sure to be destined to

With a heart so very much broken
I truly wonder sometimes why I bother
Then I remember the feel of my hair being stroked
And it makes me remember why I sought her

Not just anyone, just those with souls as white as doves
At least in theory, but is it possible for humans to do?

I remember each one I told how I felt
That I loved them and would never stop
But it seems that love can’t change what’s dealt
No one can see the next card of life that is on top

I know that this is not the end of my life
Still even now, in my heart, I have room for hope

I remember the glow off her face because of the full moon
I remember the look in another’s eyes as she looked at me
For both the time would be over much too soon
For both it seemed that fate made it not to be

The end of both, time seemed ridden with strife
And both left my life like ridding a downward slope

But love them both in a small way I still do
And live them both in a way I will always
For all of a sudden fate throws me for something new
And then another I meet and fall for anyways

I never stop loving the others in my small way
Though I doubt they would believe me

The promise of never ending love I made
Could never be countered no matter the pain
But we both knew that I couldn’t have stayed
For grown larger on that part of life, would have grown the stain

For in depression there is no way I can stay
And to love is this blessing and curse, it is just how I am to be

So in the end I again will fall
For I will truly see her as a gift from above
And yet again I will give her all
For yet again I will be in love

And yet again my faith is fulfilled in hope
And in bed both of us will be together
For this time it will be her hair I lovingly stroke
For the new day begins, not as any other

Baron

Author's Notes: Just a poem I wrote a couple years ago. I have it on www.allpoetry.com but thought I would share it here as well.

No I'm not a poet, I just write when I'm inspired. I have too bad a spelling to do it regularly. :)
