On Witnessing My Daughter’s Wedding Dance
– A Parent’s Reflections
On this evening of celebration
I do witness and I do bless
My darling, dancing daughter
Spinning in your wedding dress
As I watch you in your wedding dance
This day’s events I do recall
When you raised everyone’s spirits
When you shared your love with all
As I walked you up the wedding path
All present watched in awe
They saw your beauty from without
From within your beauty I saw
All did rejoice with your loving prince
As you exchanged the wedding band
You wiped away his tears of joy
With your smile and your hand
I remember when you came to us
That blessed winter’s morn
I knew then what I still know now
You are magic to earth born
I still do now remember
The instant of your body’s birth
The moment I found true love again
When you joined us here on Earth.
I held you in my arms that day
And began again the dance with you
My darling, dancing daughter
As one we spun, us two
I’ve told you many times in life
How with magic you do soar
You thought it was just a father’s love
It was that but much, much more
You gave me love with all you did
Not even a moment of strife
My darling, dancing daughter
Spinning through a magic life
So dance my darling daughter
Through times both thick and thin
All the magic that there ever was
You can flow out from within
You asked me once dear daughter
What path has the answers true
I tell you now dear daughter
All the answers are in you.
As you dance down your path of life
Dance with beauty, joy and play
My darling, dancing daughter
Do dance this and every day
Keep the true strength known as kindness
Have the vision to see good in all
Nurture those who you do truly love
And never think that you are small
All these things combined in love
Are your pathway back to Fae
Dance it well and rejoice in life
You make me proud this and every day
And when you do bless us everyone
With a child who will come from Fae
Hold it high and announce to all
One has been born in love this day
So dance you beautiful faery
Spin around this wedding place
Bring joy and love throughout the room
As those gathered feel your grace
For while you dance with all in joy
On this wondrous wedding day
Your sisters, they are dancing too
To rejoice you in the Fae
Your dance on Earth has many more turns
Do so dance them all in play
Your dance will one day continue
Beyond the stars in the home called “Fae”
Oh my beautiful darling daughter
You will truly know some day
That while those of Earth don’t know it now
You are a child of the Fae
And know this darling daughter
No matter what my form
I will celebrate your dance called “life”
As in your life I was reborn
So dance away this magic night
You who your sisters bless
My darling, dancing daughter
Spinning in your wedding dress
