Echoes of Hannah

Granite eyes shed brackish tears
With heavy hearts and realized fears
Her little light was spent too soon
Death's dismal twilight was child's noon
Her lost best friend of equal age
Wanders still upon life's stage
Drowning in the granite sea
I am this child this child is me
A banshee cry wrenched from the heart
From their lips the song doth part
Beyond the mass' ken I hide
Glancing up she's at my side
With silver wings she may fly
But instead she offers a tender sigh
Hush my chylde stop your crystal tears
Let the song embrace you and wash away your fears
In each heartbeat she'll forever be
In the echoes of quicksilver her face you'll always see
Her eyes among the stars her laughter in the brook
You have tears, smiles, and memories that death never took
Come now with me and lift the song on high,
Touch the stone, and whisper your tender last goodbye
So to the granite eyes with their endless pang
We rose our voices and Amazing Grace we sang
