Goodbye to a Cat
by Foolish Arachni
Age Group: Adult
midnight black,
velvet fur.
comforting solace,
of a purr.
my tears roll down,
his gentle face.
i hold him now,
a loving embrace.
to say goodbye,
i know i must.
always before,
it was him i could trust.
now that he's gone,
a silent room.
i lay on my bed,
as i stare at the moon.
i pray to the gods,
and goddesses too.
hoping his soul,
would arise anew.
another child,
would find this cat.
stroke his head,
give him a pat.
Author's Notes: this poem was written shortly before the death of my cat, sneaky, while he was very ill.
