darkroom virtue

I’m in a world of darkness,
a world, independent of reality
where light is the only law
and patience the only virtue.
I’m in a world of darkness
Where the focus is focus
And the outside world
Is just a distraction
I’m in a world of darkness
Where I can live in shadows
The dreams I have in the light
Without fear of consequences
The path is dark and winding
To keep the world away
Doors and turns and curtains
To keep the light at bay
For in this world, apart, alone
In dark, where shadows lay
The shadows reveal what the light cannot
The truth which we cannot say
The shadows strip away the world
The weight of judging eyes
The darkness burns away the walls
And the crafted, social lies
For in the dark, the truth will out
False pretense withers and dies
And there, within the ink stained walls
There’s no need to fantasize
Emerging to the real world
I feel the cloak descend
I feel myself being smothered
By the eyes that will not see
Emerging to the real world
I remember what I leave
I remember the strange freedom
And the darkroom liberty
Emerging to the real world
Suspicious tongues will wave
Suspicious thoughts will spread around
Whispered through the walls and halls
Emerging to the real world
Again, I hate this place
I shake my head and turn my face
Toward this temple I will race
Until I shake away this mask
I run to burry myself in the task
So that I may return and say:
I’m in a world of darkness.
