Requiem for our Mother

by Sage Runepaw
 Age Group: Adult

Requiem for our Mother
No matter where you go, No matter what you do, I can feel your presence But most of all I can feel you
Like the sun touches the ground Like the land touches the sea I can feel your presence here You don't know just how much You've changed me
I didn't know you when I met you But I knew you knew me too But if only I had some way to know What I'd feel you going through
I didn't think you could do it But I saw you pull through it
And just when I thought you were gone You came back before I knew it
But we honor you to bring your soul back I don't know if we can save your body They say your life is not in danger But no one knows the impact you've had on mine
But now I can stand here and feel like I can do nothing Now I think I have to watch you die That's the least I can do for you now So here I stand, wondering why
I didn't think it was something you could do But I saw you pull through
Because now that I know it might be too late You might someday be gone Maybe it's humanity's fate- At least your memory will still live on
Why couldn't it be me? Why did it have to be you? Why do I have to stand here And think about What you went through
I didn't think you could do it But I saw you pull through it
Knowing that I could do nothing In no way could I stand in your path But I stand here, silently wishing That maybe you'll find your way back
Spoken Even though I was stubborn, And always had to ask me for help.. But you helped me, didn't you? Yeah. You did.. Maybe I could help you more than I thought. Because you were like a mother to me.
I felt like I had to protect you. Because once upon a time you saved me.
Now you're laying here in what could be your dying breaths. Some think you don't have that much longer to live. You might not even know I'm standing here. What must it feel like, knowing you know you might just... die?
What are we going to do if you die?! What do you think we're going to do if you die? Even though you were gentle, sometimes harsh, Even though you gave us so much and we always took, I didn't mind giving back. Because I wanted to help you. We can't do this without you.
You were our lifeline.
Now you're being taken by our actions in time.
