Determination
by Sage Runepaw
Age Group: Adult
Where is determination found?
Is it under a rock, some hidden mound?
When despair runs rampant and tramples you into the ground,
Lurking somewhere, determination is found.
Where is one to begin to look?
A blackened pawn, when it takes the rook?
A dog-eared page in some forgotten book,
Maybe covered in dust- you have but to look.
And what of all you have arraigned?
Did you carelessly throw it away because you deigned?
Covered in clinging shadows, you blamed.
It's a tangled web in which you reigned.
You yourself have become sour
Now you must claim your power.
Shed your cloak of misery
Stop clinging to a part of your history.
Cease poisoning your own well-
Your story is yours to write and tell.
Live in ecstasy of the moment, of all that's around-
Count your blessings, they are abound.
As you remember them you are ready for a new round;
And remember- heaven sought is heaven found,
Determination within you is found.
