Thinking Outside the Box

Thinking Outside the Box
(Thoughts of a Corporate-Cubicle-Dweller)
Five foot walls of drab beige cloth
Surround me every day.
I sit within a corporate slave
To make my weekly pay.
No windows to let in the light;
What is there to inspire?
Florescent bulbs do not a thing
To set my mind on fire.
I miss the gentle summer breeze,
The soft blues of the sky.
The warmth of sun upon my face
As clouds go drifting by.
So while I work my fingers fly
Across each ivory key.
I open up my mind to dream
Of where I want to be.
And so I’ll wish myself away,
The freedom it unlocks.
I’ll dream about another place
And think outside my box.
