A Mother's Plea

Age Group: Adult
We have angered Her, our Mother Earth.
She created us to live and to love.
Yet in return, we have created drestruction and terror.
War and death now rule Her once peaceful land.
To most of us, Her anger is unseen.
I fear only a precious few hear Her pleas.
Her pained voice can be heard in the howl of the wind.
Vocanoes and earthquakes are Her tantrums of outrage.
The rains are the endless tears She sheds for us.
We, Her children, must answer Her calls and heed her warnings.
If we do not open our eyes and change our ways,
Our children shall watch helplessly as our world decays.
They may also become heartless, deaf to Her cries.
The end shall be the destruction of our world,
And ultimately the destruction of ourselves.
So now is the time to learn our lessons:
Open your ears, eyes and hearts.
We must show love and kindness when and wherever possible.
Humanity is not longer something to be divided,
For we are all simply people,
Living beings who share this same, beautiful Earth.
Only as one can we learn to equally love and respect others...
And the Earth!
United, all wounds can and shall be healed,
And She shall continue to bless us with her most sacred gift...
Life.
Author's Notes: This was my personal reponse to 9/11. I never had the oppurtunity to share it with anyone. As you'll see from this, and my other poetry, my style is more of prose and story-telling. I hope you enjoy my creative perspectives. Blessed Be!
