Morning, with a start, breaks a window into somber night
I sat lonely, late at wishing, pondering the sight
If sadness is a weakness, I am fallen far from grace
A drum beats loudly, inside my head, filling up this space
Once upon a burning bush, there was laughter in the flame
But since the breaking of desire, nothing is the same
There is hollow, where once there was a solid whole
No thief came to steal away, the shining of my soul
Quiet can be a friend, a secret shelter from the fray
The softness of the pillow, take you far away
Only human is not so bad, room for to and fro
Every wrong decision, makes more space to grow
Falling in between the measure, walking off the scale
Taking another direction, on a dark and dusty trail
Oh to be a simple one, knowing exactly what to do and say
Not a wandering minstrel, no place my heart can find to stay
Throw a party for the ones that are gifted, without consent
Be weary of the golden fleece, it may begin a fast decline
Fate is a laughing face, carved on mirrors, shadow of a line
But after all, what could I do, is it alright to repent?
