Heartbeat staccato
Sitting, rocking, a beat to match the heart
An orphan, all company of friends depart
Clock is angry, banging on the glass for ages
Didn't they say something, about wise sages
There are beliefs, no matter their truth or lie
That are a comfort, on beginning morning when we die
They have given comfort, shelter from overriding fear
Cast a shining in the darkness, Piece of metal held so dear
It matters little, shape or color, every one a secret cheer
I never mention, words to confirm, that I keep them near Proclaim freedom, but in certain moments, nothing's clear
It matters little, others know, when terror wanders near
I am a sparrow, in a wind , with broken wing
In the darkness, a hollow voice will sing
Vanity has no strength, if an asp does sting
Inside a simple symbol, a glimpse of lost spring
Desire abundance, gifts of spice and mirth receive
No small moment conjures, the shadows can deceive
I will build a tower, from stones of forced decay
A mighty bastion, to keep away the judgement day
No parapet can stand the siege, time creeps ahead
Walls crumble against this foe, softly singing chime
Old chants and epithets, remembered still in rhyme
Be still, in this sanctuary, future of the dead
Gather symbols, cast stones, cast away dark lies
There is none greater, than interrupted eyes
On a velvet covered table, the broken remnants of desire
it is not as some would say, fault of powers to conspire
What becomes, must follow, the path without a name
No secret to feeling fear, to cry is not a shame
Every beast, flesh and bone, face this valley catacomb
If there is ever after, I will whisper, finally I am home
