SIDEWINDER

SIDEWINDER
To speak of places, far from home, objects in soliloquy's
All of pleasure seems so lost, the forest for the trees
Can I venture outside the lines, to wander restless skies
Seeking only something relevant, hungry are my eyes
For everyone who wonders, about what is seldom understood
Cutting through the chafe and dreck, finding rings within the wood
From grains of sand a mountain grows, and casts its shadow long
But a tiny thing, a drop of rain, may begin its funeral song
My eyes are filled with such as this, mixture of both pleasure and of pain
It is the way of everything, the path a songs refrain
So I muse upon the mystery, contained within, the smallest seed or grain
From this selfsame place I came, to travel back again
Nurtured by the death of time, to reach toward distant futilities
Only to be brought to earth, by the nature of reality's
The fruit may contain some poison, within the sweetness of its skin
But even so, was better to have eaten it, than to wonder deep within
There is no reason for deception, in a world built from loss
That seasons that are pleasant, are moving toward a cross
That every moment spent under warmth and sweet repose
Calls upon the shadows, for the shedding petals of the rose
I am just a moment, in a vast expanse of time
So it seems a silly thing, to call its end a crime
A flower has its beauty, for a price it pays no mind
All within this place, just pieces of a kind
