Missing in the last act

Missing in the last act
It was an early September morning, in a place of broken dreams
There was a fire burning brightly, in a land with muted screams
An agony of silence, broke through the shadows, victim in the mall
All the churches were proclaiming, the beginning of the Fall
The winter wind is coming, across a white and silent sky
Deeply held reflections, on an ocean of decay, tide so high
Give me bitter herbs, from roots of rage, in hollow fearful eyes
I find my way across a desert, where gardens come to die
From a dark and lonely highway, many signs proclaim the way
To the cities of the empire, that have died from slow decay
And fires are still burning, in the hearts that cannot cry
Give a care to mornings light, soft touch of crying sky
We wander through the gates of hell, singing songs of better days
The castle walls are broken, Mighty towers falling down in waves
So many simple children, from a land built to shelter from the pain
Even here we cannot hide, from a storm that shelters fire in its rain
