Ode to Brighid

Radiant Brighid, Queen of the Bards
From whom all Poetry is generously gifted.
We who display Your gifts as our own
are forever indebted to You.
My mind is dry tinder that ignites when kissed
by the sparks of inspiration released
from Your sacred flame.
Your fiery arrow pierces my heart, and sets it alight
Awakening me to the joy and ecstacy of Your magick
as You awaken the Earth from its hibernation
each Imbolctide.
The steady and persistent pounding of Your mallet
against the anvil forges my soul
Strong as steel; precious as gold.
You are the Smith to whom I surrender myself,
malleable, and ready to be shaped and formed
by Your skilled hands into something beyond myself.
Burning and buffing my tarnished spirit into
that which is shiny and beautiful.
Healing transformation,
Your flame lights my way.
