Age Group: Adult

O renewing Goddess,
immortal Mother of spring,
bringing life back to me
after my long sleep.
How I marvel at Your beauty,
tall trees swaying in the wind,
dark limbs and plump green buds
against a canvas of rain-swollen clouds.
Moss-colored land and jewel-toned blooms
emitting the scent of Your heavenly breath.
How long I have unknowingly yearned for your presence,
to see, once again, Your glorious majesty,
to look at the world with eyes not clouded,
to hear Your voice in a babbling brook,
to feel Your skin in lush blades of grass,
to find You again with an open heart.
How did I survive so long in the dark without Your light?
How little I knew I missed You until You brought me home again.
So I sit amidst Your power.
I gaze up at your wondrous form.
I close my eyes and take Your breath for mine.
The road ahead is long,
with shadows and pits strewn in my path,
but I will keep my eyes closed
and follow with my heart,
so when I fall to shadowed pits,
the light of Your love will guide me home once more.

Author's Notes: I write this as I'm covered head to toe in poison ivy.....how's that for devotion?

**Willow Rose--if you read this:
I am not a teen so I couldn't send this message to you privately, but I needed to tell you somehow. I read your poem, it's beautiful, and I read your note at the end. I was lost in depression for a long time and, like you, our Goddess pulled me out. You are not alone. You are going to have a lot of ups and downs. You will think you're crazy a lot of times, but I promise you that if you hold Her in your heart, there is no darkness Her light can't penetrate. I will pray for you and know that there is at least one person climbing out of the pits with you. Brightest blessings and may the light of Her love lead you home.
