Brighid in Autumn

Age Group: Adult
Lay down Your head
Your time is done.
Once a mighty flame,
Now a dying ember
To be rekindled
When the ewes are milking
To spark the dawn of Spring.
But until then,
Oh, until then,
Lay down Your head and rest
As the Earth prepares for slumber.
Before long you must rouse
The trees and seeds from Winter's nap
And foster the Sun Child
Into manhood once again.
Let Your forge go dark
And wipe Your brow.
Your priestesses tend Your flame,
And eagerly await Your return.
But until then,
Oh, until then,
Lay down Your head and rest.
