Hymn to Aphrodite

Her breath the wind from the sea,
Several mysteries she told to me.
Foam born and mistress of desire,
She told me we would conspire.
Her windy breath played upon my thighs,
Erotic moments filled my eyes.
Careful child our blood runs hot,
Our skin is soft and eyes ablaze.
Not all can stand our gaze or touch,
For them the fire is still too much.
So I walk by the sea and in the sand,
Knowing the wine of contentment is poured by my own hand.
Mistress I want to learn,
It is your kiss that makes me yearn.
Show your seeking daughter the way,
And I will cry your name from dark until the break of day.
Author's Notes: This poem came to me as I sang songs in Greek to Aphrodite on the beach in North San Diego county.
