Thoughts fell from my mind
and drifted like cottonwood fluff
up through the air
and into the sky
wound through the lace
of leaves and sunlight on stones
came the echo of you
in a small butterfly
your voice in the rushes
like droplets of rain and waterfalls
spun me to infinity
and left me out to dry
time stands open now
like the doors of an empty mine
all the stones have fallen in
where unborn dreams still lie
a raspy cricket calls
to the moon of dusty yellow weeds
a jaded wind intently blows
cloud gods across the sky
