The Path I have Chosen

In all the times and tragedy
I had always kept the faith
My heart remained true to one
Whom I had never seen His face
I kept on trucking
Not knowing why
Feeling out of place
And wanting to cry
I found my path
At twenty-three
But I so do fear
What others will not see
The way was shown and I am a Witch
Oh, yes, Dear Mother it’s true!
In my head I say it a million times
But I can never say it to you
I have found comfort
I have found peace
I have found where I belong
A faith that fits with me
I cannot explain why this is
That Wicca fits me well
But fear not, those that I love
I will not be burning in Hell
I am in harmony with nature
I cherish this world of life
I hope that one day mankind
Will end this pointless fight
I set out on this path
Sometimes feeling alone
But knowing every day
That spiritually I am home
Author's Notes: I was sitting at home one day considering whether or not to tell my Catholic mother that I am no longer a child of the lamb, and this poem just started to come to me. I chose to submit it because even though it is hard to understand at some points, it speaks true to my soul and my 'awakening' of sorts as a Wiccan. I only can hope that others enjoy reading this piece as much as I enjoyed writing it.
