She Wears a Winter Dress

by Katze von der Nacht Drachen
 Age Group: Adult

Her eyes are as dark as the First Night- on the eve of breaking light. Her hair is silvery white... She awaits the passing of time. And on the horizon She spies a dove: the winged hope of Her long lost love.
**Oh fair and fair is the snow that blankets the land abreast! And She- oh fairer still- She wears a winter dress! She wears a winter dress!**
Yea, Green Warrior, come and gone- young and old, Your story is retold. You vie for love and in Your bravery still You bid Your Lady farewell. She weeps the crystal tears and turns to the cold- for as fair as She- Her name is the Crone.
**Oh fair and fair of the deepest snow that blows within Her lonely chest and She- oh fairer still- She wears a winter dress!**
She howls and wails from the North, to cry for love that lies in sleep. For it is She that chills the dark night air, so that Spring blooms may keep. And walks amgonst us now, does She- as careful as a Mother- for every candle and twinkling light She sees is a sign of Her Lover.
**Oh fair and fair is the snow that blankets the land abreast and She- oh fairer still- She wears a winter dress! She wears a winter dress!**
Oh, come, fair hearted old Crone! For Spring is almost nigh! Don your dress and sing with us, and bid Your Love good- night. He knows You vigil for His heart, He hears Your song beneath the Earth. Come, now, my Wintery Lady, keep You warm by the hearth.
**Oh fair and fair is the deepest snow that blows within Her lonely chest and She- oh fairer still- She wears a winter dress! She wears a winter dress...**
-Blessed be to our Lady of Winter- Good slumber to our Lord of the Wood-
Author's Notes: I had written this while listening to seasonal music at home- and had thought of some of the older Twelfth century styles of writing... Enjoy!
