Internal Flames

The fires burn within me
Holding back nothing but my blood
I want to draw the lines
With my essence
With my Soul
Let me let it out
No matter where I may be
It is not for me to decide
What comes and goes
It is a natural gift
One that resides within me
Holding me prisoner
Keeping me alive
The creativity burns,
Quenches my thirst
It is the air that I breathe
The ground that I walk upon
And as I stand here
Barefooted in the rain
My skin sizzles,
Crackling, burning,
Acid dripping from the gashes in my flesh
Blood falling from the corners of my eyes
And I smile
Knowing that I am alive for another day
As the Muses sing around me
Taking over my body
Creativity is nothing that can be grasped
By mortal fingers or hands
It can only be thought of
Yet it is too elusive
And too dangerous
To keep in this world for long periods of time
The Muses are its guardians
Its protectors
And they have taken me over
Making me one with that which can unite
Which can kill
Which can bring the dead back to life
Make me whole
Author's Notes: It was, again, a poem that I wrote for my Creative Writing Class. It is supposed to be what I define "Creativity" to be...a little morbid, isn't it? ^_^
