Daytime Ritual

by Auret
 Age Group: Adult

The Preparation
Johanna felt her joy overtake her, and she couldn’t resist the urge to run through the open field. She loved it out here, the sun overhead, the meadows all around, and the little streamlet which ran through the edge of the woods, all made her feel as if everything in the world was right, and that these good times would never end. As she neared the clearing where she planned on having her ritual, she slowed to catch her breath. She looked all around, and felt an enormous contentment gather in her chest. “Thank you goddess…for all of this” she whispered. She exhaled, and fell onto her back to stare up at the sky. As she lay there, she could almost hear the wind whisper through tall grasses, “Be at peace my child. I am with you.”
The Ritual
She cast her circle, and invited her Lord and Lady to join her in her feast. As she sat down to enjoy some of the French bread her grandmother had brought to the house, she took in the moment all at once. These outdoor daytime rituals were a rare gift, and one which she cherished much. The chance to be with the god and goddess was wonderful on its own, but too be able to do it outside of her room, and in the daytime no less? Pure bliss. She sat there, meditating with her two friends, enveloped in total happiness. The wind rustled the trees of the forest to her left, and the tall grass playfully waved around her. The earth beneath her bare feet was warm and soft, perfect for dancing or sleeping. She could faintly hear the stream near the forest, trickling along, made deeper by the rainfall of last night. She could feel her own spirit inside of her, the love for her Lord and Lady, and the harmony this secret place instilled in her. This was truly the path for her.
The Grounding
It was nearing evening. As much as she had enjoyed the day, it was time to head home. She inhaled and spoke to her god and goddess, “Thank you for coming. It meant the world to me. Feel free to stop by my place anytime.” She took down the circle, sending the energy off to help heal the earth and sky. As she tread the path back to her house, she stole one last look back at the clearing, remembering everything that had occurred. With a knowing smile and silent prayer to the gods, she made her way back home, feeling at peace.
