Winter's Whim

The wide winter river thaws
And gives way to rushing spring
From sky healing rains fall
While goddess softly sings
A leaf is carried to a grove
By the languid morning wind
And falls to an altar of earth and stone
Which holds cleansing life within
The gods hold their children close
As winter takes its leave
Gaia and Sky embrace in joy
And sigh with warm relief
